Measure the Future is a project that came to life with the funding of Knight News Challenge and this has produced a breakthrough idea. I culled this from the Measure the Future Webiste:
"A Google-Analytics-style dashboard for your library building: number of visits, what patrons browsed, what parts of the library were busy during which parts of the day, and more. Measure the Future is going to make that happen by using simple and inexpensive sensors that can collect data about building usage that is now invisible. Making these invisible occurrences explicit will allow librarians to make strategic decisions that create more efficient and effective experiences for their patrons".
Measure the Future will make this happen by using hardware and software which will all be open and free to ensure that libraries continue to advance technologically.
A step in the right direction!
Will bring you more updates on how this works soon.
